Parting thoughts
Hot is to cold just as cold is to hot. Both polarities are in nature opposites of each other, but yet neither can truly be mentally defined without the other. By defining one, the nature of the other becomes apparent, and like ying and yang, they compliment each other. Such is the wisdom of the world, yet it is ignored in pursuit of more.
When a society as a whole favors one end of the polarity more and ascribes to its values, the end result is that it inevitably leaves no room for outliers. The inevitable outcome is that while we may enjoy our comforts where we are, perhaps the true losers are the kids who weave our Nikes for us, the folk who cannot rise above the status quo, and those who cannot fit in no matter how they try. The true irony is that the top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is self-actualization, a goal where everybody seems to have a shot at, but the outliers will never be able to attain.
While the norm of favoring one polarity over the other as a matter of survival is perfectly reasonable in favor of survival, the rules that have since then carried on into society have now created a whole new set of problems that we now face. This opposing duality, so beautifully weaved into existence by our minds has now become the very thing that stops us from truly being able to live our best lives.
If nothing else, know that as heads is to tails for the coin, life is unto death for existence, hot is to cold as cold is to hot, for such is the way of the human mind.
